Chancel Choir

The Bible tells us to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord” (Psalm 100:1), to “sing to the Lord a new song” (Psalm 98:1).  The Bible even tells us that Jesus and his disciples sang together (Matthew 26:30).

Join us in leading the congregation in worship!  We have a wonderful choir and a great music program here at First Church.  We concentrate on the classics … Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Mozart … but we also love to explore the spirituals, gospel, and contemporary music.  Chancel Choir sings every Sunday from Labor Day thru mid-June.  We rehearse Wednesday evenings at 7:30, Sunday mornings at 9:30.

We are always receptive to new members!  There are no membership requirements other than a reliable commitment to attend most rehearsals.  You don’t need a solo-quality voice, or any training in music.  You need only be receptive to learn and sing a part in tune.

Chancel Bell Choir

FUMC Bell Choir performs several times during the year including Christmas and Easter.  Our bell choir provides an important link to our community, continuing a long-running association with the annual Las Posadas festival at Mission San Jose.

Membership is open to all ages by audition.  Please contact our music director for information.  We would love to have you.

Friends of FUMC Monthly Concert Series

Come and join us for a free classical music event every month!  They are generally scheduled the first Sunday of every month at 4:00 pm.  However, during calendar conflicts such as Super Bowl, Fourth of July weekend, Labor Day etc., the recital may be moved to a different weekend.  You may check our home page (fremont-methodist.org) for information on the next event.

These concerts are free to the public, with no admission charge. There will be an opportunity for those who would like to contribute to a local humanitarian charity. It will be a zero-pressure freewill offering, made via donation jar near the entrance. Information will be given about the charity, and 100% of the proceeds will go to the charity. Please give if you can, but it’s not required. Charities in the past include Abode Services, Tri-City Food Bank, Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance, League of Volunteers Newark, and SAVE (Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments).

The musical concerts will be 30 to 60 minutes in length and accessible to the entire family. Always check our homepage for information on the upcoming concert, and for occasional date or time changes.
