Class on “The Prophets”

Beginning on Sunday, October 13, Pastor William and John Holmes will be leading an Adult Education Class on the Prophetic Books of the Old Testament in their original and modern contexts, based upon the lectures of Dr. Walter Brueggemann, “Practicing Neighborhood amid Empire”, delivered last autumn at the Purdue Lectures in San Jose .

The class will feature videos of Dr. Brueggemann’s lectures with additional resource materials from the Teaching Company Course entitled, “The Old Testament”, by Prof. Amy-Jill Levine of Vanderbilt Divinity School, and  commentary by Pastor William and John Holmes.  There will be time for questions and discussion included in the classes.  Note that Pastor William is a scholar of the Old Testament and brings his special knowledge and insight to these classes.

The one hour class will begin at 11:30 am (after the fellowship time) in Room 7 of  the Ockerman Building.   The classes will continue on October 20, 27, and on November 10, 17, and conclude on the 24th.   If you want to learn more about these very pivotal poetic writings and what the implications are for us.
